As a weight loss and contest prep coach, I see every shape and size coming to me trying to improve their health and physiques.
I hear so often,
“I eat healthy! Why am I not losing weight?!”
YOU ARE DRINKING YOUR CALORIES
From wine to fancy coffee drinks, and even plain coffee can derail your progress. Adding that calorie-laden cream plus 2 sugars can be over 70 calories per cup. Do that 5 times a day, you have about 25% of your daily calories coming from empty calories.
Lattes and cappuccinos can have as many calories
as a regular meal!
By far wine is the biggest obstacle women face. Alcohol not only inhibits your awareness but it slows metabolism and increases estrogen. Pass completely or sip it slowly and limit yourself to one glass a week.
YOU ARE NOT EATING ENOUGH PROTEIN
We all know protein is the building block of muscle growth. It’s wise to get .8 to 1.25 g of protein per lb of body weight. If you are overweight, use your goal weight as your guide. Quality protein shakes, quality protein bars, animal sources, dairy and even plant protein are all great options to get your protein in.
YOU ARE NOT WEIGHING YOUR FOOD
If you are not controlling your portions, you are stalling your weight loss. Restaurant portions distort our portion sizes. A serving of chicken for a female would normally be 3-4 ounces. Did you know your basic breakfast bagel is equivalent to 6 slices of bread? Take the time to download an app to track your daily food intake then go and grab an inexpensive food scale. You will definitely be surprised and will quickly find out why you are not losing weight.
